What is HIPPY?
HIPPY (Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters) is a free, two-year, home based early childhood learning program that empowers parents and carers to be their child’s first teacher.
HIPPY provides Families with the resources, knowledge, and skills to achieve the best outcome for their children before transitioning to school and strives to strengthen connection and engagement within the families local community through play based activities.
HIPPY has been delivering for over 50 years and running in Australia since 1998 with one hundred sites situated throughout Australia.

How HIPPY works ...
In the first year of HIPPY (Age 3) parents engage in a fortnightly delivery with play based activities suitable for the parent to complete with their child at home or when out and about.
In the second year of HIPPY (Age 4), the year before school, parents engage in a weekly delivery with more structured activities to help develop the child’s confidence towards a positive transition to school the following year.
During their two years of HIPPY children complete a range of activities that help to develop a variety of skills such as maths concepts, literacy, logical thinking, memory recall, fine and gross motor, social and emotional development, creative, communication, along with many other different skills throughout the program.
HIPPY families spend around 10-15 minutes per activity with a focus on learning happening everywhere, making it easy to fit into everyday life through completing fun educational activities together.
HIPPY can be individualised to families to support different learning styles, as we know every child develops and learns differently.
